Victories: Finally figuring what went wrong

I have friends who say I do many things well. But I want you to know the reason I do those things well now, is that I first made many mistakes. The real reason I do things well now (and NOT all things!) is that I figured out what I did wrong. I found some victories, and I want to share them with you! The world probably still sees me as an imperfect woman.  I usually need 9 hours of sleep  (though I may not get it).  This took courage to admit, because a long night’s sleep is socially unacceptable.  People assume I must sit on the couch and eat bon-bons.  I need the sleep, but once I awaken, my feet hit the ground running.  I watch ZERO TV, and have no screen time, except for paying bills, briefly writing to friends who live far away, making economy purchases online and reading select e-news that I cannot find elsewhere, and of course now writing this blog.  I am being honest about my weird need for sleep, simply to show that it is possible to get more things done in less time.

I home school children, yet I found a way to work out at home, and I want to share my secrets, since some of the things I do I have never seen anyone else.

I am lean (wrinkled, but lean!), despite having hypothyroidism and having passed into menopause (which really shrank my metabolism).  I have a slow metabolism—how do I eat less and remain lean?  Come on board and I’ll share my methods.

My children are above grade level, despite being fall babies and enrolled in school at one grade level above where they would be in the public school level.  I have to confess neither of my girls claims to love school, and only one is an avid reader. But they actually remember what I teach them, and we actually have some fun with school. I am so glad home schooling works!  Maybe it works, because I let the girls go on to new skills once they master the old ones and avoid tons of home work if they actually know how to do a skill (such as math). We do school enrichment activities on a budget.  I will share my recommendations and eventually even affiliates where you can find supplies on a shoe string budget too.

We have other ways we have risen above the bombs we actually dropped on our lives (the mistakes we made a ton of times). In my outline of the website’s tentative schedule, I give ideas of things we will share in more detail. If I have not figured something out, I will not write about any fake victories (but I am very happy to hear of victories you all have had in any of those areas). But if you are OK with hearing how we are working on areas, then maybe we will still share about the progress we have made so far.

Healthy eating?  Ouch!  My children had a vegetable rebellion, right when I thought I had our eating figured out.  I had to scramble to find veggies they would eat.  We live in world that pushes junk food, and we have friends and family members who like to give processed food to my girls.  They are learning to make better choices, and, yes, I did finally find veggies they would eat, although they do like junk food.  For now, I pray the good food I give them may outweigh the negatives of the junk they receive.  I’ll share my ideas of what worked and what failed here too.

So come along, and join us on our wild ride of life. We hope you know how wonderful you are!
